Ludvig Eikaas is known as a joker in Norwegian post-war art. But every clown has a serious side at their core. Here in the Eikaas Gallery, there will be plenty of opportunity to enjoy his ability to portray both himself and his fellow human beings. No one else of his generation has moved so freely between different techniques and forms of expression. This has meant that Ludvig Eikaas can today be associated with a number of directions in Norwegian art as both a bearer of tradition and an innovator in printmaking, painting, and sculpture, but also as an early exponent of both conceptual and performative directions. He is perhaps best known for his graphic print that simply shouts a resounding "Jeg" ("I) and his work featuring a forged silver tie, which is exhibited here and has become an icon.
