Restaurant Wesselstuen takes its name from famous writer and poet Johan Herman Wessel, whose well-known verses and epigrams adorn its charming interior. We think they create an atmosphere of warmth, inspiration and playfulness – a bohemian feeling, very much in the spirit of Johan Herman Wessel himself. Wesselstuen is located in the middle of Bergen, and its history stretches back to 1957. Since then, the restaurant has been a popular meeting place for locals and visitors alike – both to enjoy a quick drink in the bar and to spend an evening in its cosy premises.
The restaurant is one of the most popular restaurants in Bergen and has been a regular haunt of writers, journalists, actors as well as punters in the street.
At Wesselstuen, everyone is welcome. We serve traditional food from Bergen. No matter if you are going out with family, friends or colleagues, we promise a good atmosphere and tasty food.
Wesselstuen is always a good idea, whether you are going to a Christmas party or just looking to make everyday life a little more pleasant. Our doors are always open – to newly renovated premises!
De Bergenske consists of over 12 restaurants and bars in Bergen city centre. Here we serve everything from traditional dishes and juicy steak from our Mibrasa charcoal grill to delicate seafood and elegant fine dining sushi.
